Laurent House Visitor’s Center

The Laurent House Visitor Center (4627 Spring Brook Road, Rockford) will again be a host venue for spring Art Scene. During Art Scene, the Laurent House Museum will be open for tours by donation with a suggested donation of $10 per person. It's the one time of year we are open by donation!

The Laurent House Museum is the only home designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright to be wheelchair accessible and is one of only 11 hemicycle Usonian designs in Wright’s extensive portfolio of work. In 1948, the Laurents commissioned Wright to design a home that would allow Ken, a WWII paraplegic due to a spinal cord injury, to move about freely in his wheelchair. Completed in 1952, the Laurent House was considered by Wright one of his most important works and is recognized as a spectacular example of Wright’s architecture and interior design. In 2018, the home was selected by AIA Illinois as one of the Top 200 Architectural Great Places in the state.

Please note there is limited parking at our Visitor Center and no parking at the Laurent House. We will have overflow parking with a free shuttle from Spring Creek United Church of Christ (4500 Spring Creek Road). If you have mobility needs, please call our office at 815.877.2952.
