Community Engagement Officer—Full-time


SALARY RANGE: $50-60,000, commensurate with experience

NATURE OF WORK
The position of Community Engagement Officer is a full-time position that serves the Arts Council through its work on the Rockford Region Cultural Plan and Arts Council programs. The Community Engagement Officer will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the Arts Council’s community relationships continue to grow and its offerings continue to expand.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Executive Director with Cultural Plan event/meeting/travel coordination, presentations, communications, community bridge-building, and grant reporting
• Strengthen and develop relationships, timelines, and deliverables that provide the necessary structure for the effective implementation of the Rockford Region Cultural Plan
• Meaningfully contribute to the development of Arts Council-specific Cultural Plan strategic goals and objectives by effectively communicating with new and established Arts Council partners
• Oversee Summer Programs: Maintain and improve online registration process, develop an effective approach to promotion, hire and provide training for artist instructors, provide curriculum expectations, review and approve curriculum, oversee programs in real-time, appropriately acknowledge program sponsors, participate in grant writing, provide final reporting
• Oversee other programs: Poetry Out Loud, Poet Laureate/Youth Poet, Access and Action Grants; potential programs include senior arts enrichment and Lit Up—both would require oversite
• Provide supplemental support to the Arts Council’s annual Arts Awards and biannual ArtScene
• Work directly with the Operations Officer to ensure alignment with grant funding expectations
• Prepare an annual report, related to Arts Council’s community engagement, in relationship to the Rockford Region Cultural Plan and annual programs
• Contribute as a member of the senior management team and participate in the generation of new ideas and fresh approaches to Arts Council community engagement opportunities
• Provide positive and professional leadership/management to contractual artist employees and volunteers, to ensure continued and effective support of all members of the Arts Council community
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
• 5 years of project management and/or program management
• Ability to work closely with the Arts Council team members, both proximally and project-based
• Strong communication skills and a kind demeanor
• Strong belief in the practices of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion + Accessibility
• Strategic planning
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, budget management, and e-communications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Graduation from an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant work experience

Rockford Area Arts Council

Office Manager – Full-Time

NATURE OF WORK

The position of Rockford Area Arts Council Office Manager is a full-time administrative position that serves Arts Council members and the Rockford Region by performing the administrative, community relations, and communications work required to assist the Rockford Area Arts Council executive and senior management team. The scope of work is diverse and includes, and is not limited to, Executive Director assistance, event planning, membership communications, greeting and educating the public, website updates, social media posts, and calendar and newsletter management. The Office Manager reports to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serve as the ‘point-person’ for the Art Council’s first contact with its members and the community

• Plan, coordinate, and schedule administrative functions

• Schedule RAAC Team meetings and take detailed notes; assist Executive Director with scheduling OOO meetings

• Manage calendars and meeting schedules of executive and senior management teams, avoiding schedule conflicts

• Develop and maintain the office’s physical and electronic filing systems, as well as general office organization

• Prepare and coordinate communications with membership, and the community at large, regarding Arts Council events, programs, and opportunities

• Collate and distribute incoming mail, prioritizing financial tasks and responsibilities

• Work closely with the Operations Officer to ensure seamless financial transactions

• Coordinate program calendar, communications, and information for Arts Council programs, as designated by the Director of Programming

• Purchase supplies for the Arts Council office, programs, events, and initiatives

• Update Arts Council online events calendar based on organization notifications and social media and internet research

• General project support for all Arts Council programs and initiatives: attendance and task-related duties

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Attention to detail in all outside communications and event planning

• Communication skills: Kind and clear demeanor in telephone, email, and verbal communications

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workday load

• Effective time management and initiative

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, MailChimp, Canva, database management system(s), and basic e-communications

• Commitment to, and an ambassador for, the ideals of equity, diversity, and inclusion

• A kind demeanor and ability to switch gears, organizationally and professionally

• Expectation to attend/participate in Arts Council functions, outside of the 9-5 workday requirement

• Ability and willingness to lift up to 40 lbs; taking initiative to ensure office organization and general cleanliness

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Project management experience

• WordPress proficiency

• Bilingual a plus (Spanish)

• Excellent writing skills

• Highly adaptable to a high-paced environment with frequently changing priorities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited 2 or 4-year college/university or equivalent, relevant work experience

SALARY AND BENEFIT RANGE

Pay range is $38-44,000, commensurate with experience; Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance and PTO

SEASONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Arts Place - Lead Artist

The Lead Artist instructor will work with elementary, middle, or high school-age students in the development of the basic skills associated with the Lead Artist’s proposed form of art. Camp completion expectation: ArtsPlace students will develop a basic knowledge of the proposed art form; students will present the culmination of their skill-building in the form of a final project or performance.

    Arts Place - Assistant Artist

    The Assistant Artist is responsible for assisting the Lead Artist in the instruction of art with either elementary, middle, or high school-age students in the development of the basic skills associated with the Lead Artist’s proposed form of art; the Assistant Artist will use the Arts Council’s summer theme, ‘Here and Now’, to develop a meaningful, challenging, and creative final project or performance.
