Local organizations provide engineering fun for youth at Discovery Center Museum

Rockford, IL – The snowboard, water slides, running shoes, the ferris wheel and virtual reality…all things invented by engineers! By working together to develop new technologies, products and opportunities, engineers create new possibilities that make the world a better place. Local engineering feats will be showcased at Discovery Center Museum on Saturday, February 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to celebrate National Engineers Week – February 18-24, 2024.

Discover Engineering features engineers from local companies providing demonstrations and hands-on activities for children and families.  The event offers elementary and middle school-age children the opportunity to take part in numerous experiments and hands-on activities such as designing and testing bridges, experimenting with circuits and motorized gears, participating in chemistry experiments, and much more!  So set your brain on “try-it mode” and prepare for some fun challenges!

Discover Engineering is sponsored by the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers – Rockford Chapter, Parker Hannifin, and the Illinois Space Grant Consortium. Cost is included with Museum admission – $10 adults; $10 children ages 2-17; and free to Museum members and children age 1 and younger.
