Kate Mayo, a disabled and neurodivergent artist from the south, began drawing and painting at a young age. Her passion shifted to performance art for a couple of decades, earning a BA in Theatre and working as a professional actor and comedian. Illness and disability led her to stop performing and refocus on the visual arts. Mayo uses art to work through difficult emotions that come with her disabilities and ground herself in the beauty of this world. Working in digital, mixed media, acrylic, and watercolor, her works can mostly be categorized as pop surrealism.
