State of the Arts Awards

The arts are one of Rockford's greatest assets! From the reopening of the Coronado Theatre to the growing audiences for cultural events, we can all be proud of the fact that Rockford is a great arts community.

To give artists and arts advocates the recognition they deserve, the City of Rockford and the Rockford Area Arts Council in 1989 created the Mayor's Arts Awards honoring an Individual Artist, Individual Arts Advocate, Corporation, Exceptional Student of the Arts, Star Educator, and Creative Cultural Event who have made significant contributions to the arts and whose contributions have resulted in a major and positive impact on the community.
