At the behest of so many people in our community, the Rockford Area Arts Council is bringing back one of the Midwest’s most popular and highly regarded outdoor celebrations of the arts.
Beattie Is…Back is a family friendly arts festival that will feature a high-quality artist market, art demonstrations, on-stage performances and specialty food vendors. Patrons will be entertained and delighted by a host of roaming performers as they wander the festival grounds.
In the Make-and-Take creative zone, people of all ages are sure to be delighted with a unique opportunity to partake in exciting “hands-on” art activities. Guests will be guided in using a variety of mediums, and make something to take home. The Make-and-Take creative zone is a collaborative project between the Rockford Area Arts Council, The Arc of Winnebago, Boone and Ogle Counties and the Rockford Park District’s Therapeutic Recreation Program.
To commemorate Beattie Is…Back, the festival will begin with an opening ceremony at Beattie Park where the Festival first got its name in 1974. Patrons attending the opening ceremony are invited to join the animated arts walk (parade), which will take us to our beautiful festival grounds situated along the
shores of the Rock River.
The Rockford Area Arts Council is looking for ALL artists (visual, musicians, poets, performers, etc.) to participate in Beattie Is…Back Arts Festival!
Beattie Is…Back is sure to etch another great mark in our community’s progressive cultural story.
