“Creating art allows me to extract the senses of my experiences and turn them into a form that can be shared. The act of creation gives me a sense of satisfaction and anticipated accomplishment for the transformation of the impression of my thoughts into a visual representation. My art work is influenced by the natural world, and my current series of paintings are inspired by Yellowstone National Park. During my visits to the park, I observed numerous geysers, hot springs and mud pots, from which water flowed and deposited minerals and bacteria over rock and sediment. This creates patterns and encourages the growth of the bacterial mats. My paintings mimic these natural abstractions through a process of applying numerous layers of texture and color. I hope my work will encourage viewers to find an appreciation and respect for all natural places.”
